Corfe Castle, St Georges Day Sunrise, Dorset
April 2016 - A 3:30 am wake up for me to get to Corfe for Dawn, which wasn’t bad, but not as great as I was hoping for. The overnight cloud cover started to clear a bit too early for my liking, but still a beautiful morning to be out on the hillside overlooking one of Dorset’s best known locations. The sun rising to the left and almost behind the castle in April leaves the ruins almost silhouetted against the morning sky and its possible to capture a sunburst through the window, but this has been done recently and I don't like to copy. I decided to move down the hillside as the sun rose higher in the sky and waited for it to poke it’s head above the hillside for a burst of golden light, before flare would cause too many problems.
